Hello my dear friends of Celtic Music Night! It is a day of counting blessings…

I am so thankful to be writing to you relatively unscathed… but just to let you know: I had a very unfortunate run-in with the vicious storm we just weathered… On my way between Christmas concerts with Molly’s Revenge while driving through the deluge Saturday night, my car hydro-planed and I crashed quite badly on the I-880 freeway in San Jose. I was not hurt in the dramatic crash, other than a dose of whip lash, so I’m thanking my guardian angels for that and I am SO thankful! However my car suffered severe damage and is no longer drive-able.

…but the shows must go on, even if it means hitch-hiking to get there!

This Tuesday (tomorrow night), Celtic Music Night is ON, and it is the final event there until next summer, so I hope you can make it!

Tuesday December 4th. St Andrew Church, 7pm: 9850 Monroe Ave, Aptos

I would say it’s officially still a farewell party and send off for my coming move to Scotland as previously posted, but I must now also call it a car resurrection benefit… So please come out and enjoy a wee performance of music, a party with free refreshments, and jam session as usual, and if you are able to contribute donations, know it will go far in getting my legendary traveling companion patched up, and another step closer to getting to Scotland once again. I am always humbled and amazed by your gracious support as a community…I so appreciate it. Thank you for being such a blessing.

Also, Thanks so much to everyone who came out in support of the Michael Mullen concert at Music Night last week; what a great night! Michael put on a really neat show and you all were such a great crowd that Michael commented on what a great experience it was for him as well!

It was so lovely to see so many of you at Don Quixote’s for the kick-off of the Molly’s Revenge Christmas tour… now that was a party!

Happy fall to Y’All, oh friends of Celtic Music Night; I hope you’ve all been doing well and are staying dry as the rain descends upon Santa Cruz once again!

Your roaming piper has returned– this time all the way from New York via Nashville and all the way along historic Route 66, and that’s right folks, Celtic Music Night is BACK, like disco only better, and I have some very exciting announcements to tell you about…

First, this very morning is St. Andrew Day, being celebrated at our lovely St Andrew Church in Aptos. Festivities are fun and free and very authentically Scottish, which include myself piping and sharing culture with the children, a kirking of the tartans and blessing of the clans, Scottish country dancing, choir and organist Don Atkins, and all the Scottish short bread and baklava you can eat and tea you can drink… so come on down! Dancing at 9:30 am, Piping at 10am, service at 10:30, and more festivities at 11:30…
Today, November 18, 2012, St Andrew Church, 9850 Monroe Ave, Aptos, CA

And of course Celtic Music Night is ON for this Tuesday night!
Tuesday, November 20, 2012, 7pm… David Brewer, stories and tunes of the road, east to west…
You got it folks, I am so excited to be returning to share the latest and greatest with ya! Some of my new favorite tunes, of course, but also the latest stories of my insane travels…and I’ve got some good ones this time! Everything from a chance encounter with an Amish village, mighty music playing in Nashville, being shown the ancient techniques of Navaho metal smiths, and nights spent sleeping on the plains in Oklahoma under a star laden sky…
I greatly look forward to seeing you all and catching up with you in person!

Now for a big announcement! The east coast wasn’t far enough for the roaming piper… I’ve now decided to move even further, into the heartland of Celtic music–Scotland. That’s right folks, after the conclusion of the Molly’s Revenge Christmas tour this January, I am so excited to be relocating to the highlands of Scotland for a wee while to connect with counterparts of the music, and learn multitudes of new tunes & songs, all the while getting submerged in the Gaelic culture… And of course giving the highlands a good dose of Molly’s Revenge-ness in return! The results of the trip will trickle into upcoming blog updates, as well as a future documentary. An exciting opportunity to say the least, and although David will be rejoining Molly’s Revenge for the summer tour later in 2013, starting at the Scottish Games in Lehi, Utah on June 7th & 8th, this is one more great reason to catch him while you can with the full line up of Molly’s Revenge, Christa Burch, and the Irish dancers at one of our fine Christmas concerts right around the corner… Come raise the parting glass in person this December! See you there… You can keep up with details and updates by checking in at www.davidbrewermusic.com, as well as at our home www.molysrevenge.com soon!

Tuesday December 4th, 7pm, David Brewer’s farewell to Scotland concert & party!!!

Thanks to our wonderful host Church, St Andrew Presbyterian of Aptos, I’ll see you all then!

In other news, I am thrilled to tell you that Rebecca Lomnicky’s beautiful composition, “Grandma Rebecca’s Favorite” from our duo album “Inspired”, is being performed today in Ithaca, New York by the Cornell Chamber Orchestra! Rebecca was asked to arrange a version for the entire string orchestra, by their amazing conductor, Chris Younghoon Kim, and wow let me tell you: if the recording on “Inspired” didn’t make you shed a tear then this certainly would! You can check out “Inspired” at www.davidbrewermusic.com to have a listen, and I’ll keep you posted if any bootleg recording become available!

Celtic Music Night at St. Andrew Church is ON for next Tuesday, April 24th, 7pm!

That’s right folks, things have been quite exciting indeed and I have many stories to share from the exciting adventures of crossing the nation and exploring this new coast, encountering new people, tunes, and places, …and just when I’m starting to feel a bit settled in and the winter snows have given way to spring flowers, I am returning to the west coast for a brief tour with Molly’s Revenge, and among the stops for me is, of course, Celtic Music Night!

Among the stops for Molly’s Revenge are a couple of great Scottish Festivals: First, our premier appearance at the Bakersfield Highland Games this Saturday April 21st, and then concerts in Paso Robles, CA, and Reno, NV, and ending up at the fantastic Sacramento Scottish Games in Woodland, CA; one of our all time favorite Scottish festivals, on April 28th & 29th… so come on out and join us in some serious Celtic music-ing revelry if you can make any of those dates…www.mollysrevenge.com
