Erik Plays Piobaireachd and David Enjoys the Show!

Hello once again, my dear friends of Celtic Music Night at St. Andrew!

What a great kick-off last week was to the Summer Series of Celtic Music Night in Aptos! Thanks for everyone who came out for the duo show with Adam Hendey–it was a fantastic night of tunes, and wonderful to have such a warm crowd! Great session afterward as well; cheers!

! And, For the next TWO Tuesdays I’m in town for a wee break in The Fire CD release tour, excited to present:

THIS Tuesday June 30th :: 7pm
A special piping recital concert featuring top-level professional highland bagpiper, Erik Leiken!
Erik is a tremendous piper, and good friend of mine of many years, from the professional and competitive piping world… I’m am thrilled that this Tuesday, Erik will be traveling down from the NorCal area especially for Music Night to present a wonderfully exciting and diverse recital of music on the highland pipes, spanning the repertoire of the instrument, including competition style medleys, original compositions, and some of his award winning piobaireachds (the epic “classical-style” pieces for bagpipes, highly regarded in the tradition as the ultimate music for the pipes, very rarely heard in concert). For years, Erik has been extremely active in the competition circuit as a solo piper, bandsman in a great list of pipe bands, and instructor to both soloists and pipe bands. His superb playing, tasteful repertoire, and insights into the scene promises to make this a great night not to be missed! (I’m excited to get to kick back and enjoy some stellar piping this time! 😉
For more about Erik, you can read his bio & resume and more at: http://norcalpiping.weebly.com/

Come be a part of it! Spread the word! Grab your friends, family, neighbors, and instruments and Check it out at St Andrew Church:

The Official Start Of Summer!

Greetings my dear friends of Celtic Music Night at St. Andrew!

I hope you are having a wonderful summer, full of music and good times! And either way, if you want more music and more good times (and who doesn’t??), I have just the announcement for you: That’s right, I am pleased to announce that Celtic Music Night in Aptos is BACK, this Tuesday for the Summer Series at St Andrew Church! For the next three Tuesdays I’m in town for a wee break in The Fire CD release tour, excited to present:

THIS Tuesday June 23rd :: 7pm
A special duo concert by duo featuring up-coming stellar Celtic multi-intrumentalist, Adam Hendy, and myself, David Brewer!
This will be a concert of a wave of traditional tunes from Ireland, Scotland, and beyond, with instruments “Squared”: whistles, guitars, drums, pipes and more, which we both play, and will present in a copious combintations. Adam, now hailing from the University of Oregon, has been a long time student of mine in the past, and a shining star of the Community Music School of Santa Cruz Camp (which just concluded another fantastic year!), as well as many other musical ventures which has been quickly establishing him a reputation as one of the scene’s most exciting new players. I am very excited to introduce the folks at Celtic Music Night to his wonderful instrumental skills, already beyond his years… So come on out this Tuesday and enjoy!
As a sneak preview, Adam joined The Fire on stage at the Monterey Scottish Festival– here’s a clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyD7o5hd2WA
