Salutations, friends of Celtic Music Night at St Andrew! And welcome December! The Winter Series is under way, and you are invited!

I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend with friends, and kin, and plenty of good food…. And now for your fill of Celtic Music as December unfolds in Aptos!!

I just want to say a quick thanks so much to everyone who came out to hear me play at last weeks Celtic Music Night at St. Andrew Church! It was really a wonderful trip down musical memory lane for me, playing all those tunes from the ol’ Rosie McCann’s days, Santa Cruz High School CD project , and from the dawn of Molly’s Revenge… and Ye’s where  lovely crowd! And, yes, the full evolution of Molly’s Revenge will be bringing the ever popular WinterDance show to Felton, This Thursday Night at Don Quixote’s… more on that in a moment below….

Now to the musical happenings of the week, as promised, The Winter Series of Celtic Music Night at St Andrew comes to a crescendo This Tuesday night in Aptos– I sure hope you can come enjoy!!! Spread the word…. TOMORROW NIGHT!!


THIS Tuesday December 1st, at 7pm (TOMORROW NIGHT)–featuring:
Erik Leiken — professional highland bagpiper featuring a program of traditional and modern piobaireachd (Scotland’s classical pipe music).
Erik is an avid competitive bagpiper, and has been well know on the competition scene for years as a member of many fantastic Grade One bagpipe bands, as well as a soloist in the professional division.

December 8 — Charmas — local Irish music band with traditional songs and dance tunes a’plenty.. &, the grande finale…

December 15 — The Peninsula Scottish Fiddlers — the return of a favorite; the bay area’s epic Scottish fiddle orchestra!

As is tradition, each of these fun-filled evenings at Celtic Music Night include a bagpipe procession, concert of music by a featured special guest artist, Q&A with the group, complimentary refreshments, and an open Celtic music jam session with the players afterward, so bring your instruments, questions, and good vibes– and ALL of this is ALL ages, and ALL for a nominal donation of any size at the door. So grab your friends, family, instruments, and head out to Aptos for a good time the way nature intended!

Also, THIS THURSDAY!!!! the extremely popular show, WinterDance, is returning to Felton on December 3rd at Don Quixote’s International Music Hall!

David Brewer (piper, Celtic multi-instrumentalist from Molly’s Revenge, and The Fire) — Performing traditional and modern tunes with various bagpipes, penny-whistles, and more.. “David Brewer is a multi-instrumentalist who has toured with the Scottish super-group The Old Blind Dogs, Molly’s Revenge, & The Fire Scottish bands across the US, the UK, Canada, China, and Australia. He has been a special guest of the six-time Grammy winning group The Chieftains, and was a key musician for the sound track of the PBS documentary, “Andrew Jackson, Good, Evil, and the Presidency”. Fall Season Finale!

Salutations everyone! I hope you had a great weekend and your new week is off to a good start… But when in doubt, get ye more Celtic Music!

First of all, thanks so much to everyone who came to the Big Trees Scottish festival on Saturday– it was such a blast, and with such a good turn out I’d say it was a success! Put it on the calendar for next year… So nice to see so many folks out there; your support goes a long way… and it was absolutely great to catch up with a good many people out there! Cheers!

THIS Tuesday October 6th Finale!, at 7pm:
Michael Mullen (looping rock fiddler extraordinaire) — Celtic fiddle, guitar, and vocals, all simultaneously performed live via looping technology on stage!
Returning back here to St Andrew Church in Aptos for the Grande Finale of the Fall Series, Michael is one of our most intriguing musical guests, being a veteran performer, and exceptional multi-instrumentalist with a very cleaver and unique act, he will no doubt amaze and entertain the way only he can!
And yes, for good reason, he calls himself  “The Trio of One”… You have to see it to believe it!

A Busy Month!

Hello my dear friends of Celtic Music Night! What a great turn out for One Lane Bridge last week; thanks to everyone who came out and had a blast with us!

The Fall Series of Celtic Music Night at St Andrew is underway, and ON for TONIGHT in Aptos– I sure hope you can come enjoy!!! Spread the word….

On THIS Tuesday September 22nd– TONIGHT!, at 7pm:
SHELLEY PHILLIPS– Accompanied by Michael Glick on piano.
Founder of the Community School of Santa Cruz, Shelley is a top class multi-instrumentalist and Gourd Records recording artist– hard-core classical training, steeped in world folk music traditions, and a veteran of national & international touring, she’ll be presenting a wonderful to listen to concert featuring music on Oboe, world Flutes, and Celtic Harp, from an array of Celtic and pan-Celtic sub-styles… And Michael is a fantastic pianist & organist with virtuosity spanning many styles of accompaniment from classical and Celtic, to jazz and funk– this is going to be a first class concert to be sure– come on out and experience it with us!

It’s Back…

Salutations, friends of Celtic Music Night! Your roaming piper here– I am so pleased to announce that the Fall Series of Celtic Music Night at St Andrew has returned, and I so hope to see you soon; we’ve got alot of catching up to do!!! AND, we’ve got a great line up of awesome featured guest performances for the next FOUR TUESDAYS!

On Tuesday September 15th, 7pm:
with: A special duo concert by duo featuring up-coming stellar Celtic multi-intrumentalist, Adam Hendy, and myself, David Brewer!

Much like you witnessed back in June, where we highlighted this amazing up-coming Celtic Music star; Adam has asked me to produce his debut solo album, which we are now currently in the beginning stages of recording, so this will be a concert of a wave of traditional tunes from Ireland, Scotland, and beyond, as well as some fantastic compositions of Adam’s own, with instruments “Squared”: whistles, guitars, drums, pipes and more, which we both play, and will present in a copious combinations, just like you will hear on the up-coming album. Adam, now hailing from the University of Oregon, had been a long time student of mine in the past, and is a shining star of the Community Music School of Santa Cruz Camp, as well as many other musical ventures which has been quickly establishing him a reputation as one of the scene’s most exciting new players, with wonderful instrumental skills, already beyond his years…
This concert promises to be a sneak preview for what you might expect on the up-coming debut album!

And as promised, Celtic Music Night in Aptos will continue with an amazing line-up of featured guests on Tuesday September 22, 7pm with:
One Lane Bridge with William Coulter (Grammy-nominated guitarist), John Weed (Molly’s Revenge fiddler), & Aria Di Salvio (great cellist), And the return of Michael Mullen (looping rock fiddler extraordinaire), as well as the fantastic multi-instrumentalist, Shelley Phillips… And even more that I can’t even announce yet!
